FOX WEATHER NAMES SECOND ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY

Inaugural Scholarship Recipient Haley Meier to Join FOX Weather Full-Time as Meteorologist/Multi-Media Journalist

FOX Weather, FOX News Media’s free ad-supported streaming television (“FAST”) weather service, has named Mark Kimoto as its second annual scholarship recipient in partnership with Mississippi State University, announced Sharri Berg, president of the platform. The scholarship was first announced in November 2021 as part of a long-term partnership between FOX Weather and Mississippi State. Additionally, inaugural scholarship recipient Haley Meier will join FOX Weather as a meteorologist/multi-media journalist in July following her graduation.

In making the announcement Berg said, “We are proud to support the next generation of meteorologists and look forward to welcoming Haley full time to the FOX Weather family while supporting Mark in his academic endeavors. Mississippi State University has long been a champion of STEM studies and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with their best in class program.”

Kimoto added, “It’s truly an honor to be selected for FOX Weather’s annual scholarship. The opportunities that come with this program, are tremendous and I could not be more excited. This scholarship will allow me to more easily afford to continue my education and for that, I am endlessly grateful.”

Kimoto completed his freshman year at Mississippi State and is pursuing a degree in Geoscience with a concentration in Professional Meteorology and a minor in Communication. He is currently a member of the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society, for which he was on a committee that helped run the Southeast Severe Storms Symposium. Kimoto is also a National Weather Service trained SKYWARN weather spotter. Originally from Plainview, New York, he graduated from Syosset High School on Long Island in 2022. In 2020, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America and was also a National Merit Commended Student in 2021.

The scholarship is part of a long-term partnership between FOX Weather and Mississippi State University to support the future of the meteorology industry, the endowment is set up in perpetuity and features a FOX Weather internship along with a dedicated FOX Weather meteorologist to serve as a mentor throughout the process. Preference for the scholarship is given to undergraduates with a proven academic achievement record of a 3.0 GPA or higher. The scholarship will be applied to Kimoto’s 2023-2024 school year.
