This 1×60 film, which will TX on Sunday 12th January at 18.45, examines how the fires started, what caused them and the political fall-out.

Louisa Compton, Head of News, Current Affairs, Specialist Factual and Sport at Channel 4, said: “The speed and ferocity of these wildfires show us that we can’t waste any time in trying to understand what is happening. This film will give a panoramic picture of the devastation currently unfolding while also putting into perspective the science and politics that underline our response to increasingly extreme weather.”
