There’s no need to ‘turn back time’ this December as BBC Two and BBC Music will deliver a Christmas present to viewers in the festive form of Cher Meets Rylan, which sees legendary singer and actress Cher and Rylan in conversation in a world exclusive 60-minute special.

To be filmed on location in London and broadcast on Saturday 9 December at 9pm, the multi-platinum record selling, Grammy Award-winning artist talks in-depth to Rylan, who quizzes her about her life and music.

BBC Two will also celebrate Cher with an evening of programming celebrating the pop icon, around the Cher Meets Rylan centrepiece.

Rylan, who also presents a Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 (3-6pm), says: “I’m rarely speechless but being asked to interview actual Cher did the trick. What an honour to sit down and chat to the Goddess of Pop. I can’t wait to meet her.”

Jonathan Rothery, Head of Pop Music TV, BBC, says: “Cher is a trailblazing legend who has been wowing music lovers for decades, so I’m thrilled to give viewers an unmissable night of pop on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in December.”

As a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, top-grossing live performer and Emmy-winning TV star, Cher has enjoyed a singing career with hits in every decade from the 1960s to the 2010s. Cher won an Academy Award for Best Actress for Moonstruck, hit the number one spot around the world with Believe in 1999, and won plaudits for critically acclaimed performances on the Broadway stage.
