Prof. Robert Beckford and his Jamaican-born wife Jennifer Beckford agree on most things – apart from one issue they never view the same way; whether the Windrush Generation were better off after coming here or they should have stayed in the Caribbean. In this four part series, the merits of mass emigration from Caribbean will be debated and argued in a unique way for Radio 4 – the question is simple, the arguments are complex and multi layered, but what about the consequences for the Beckfords? A weekly four part series produced by Rajeev Gupta.

Faith, Hope and Glory
Monday 26 June, 2.15-3pm

Series 4, 1/6

Faith, Hope and Glory, an epic drama exploring the emergence of modern multicultural Britain, returns for its sixth series on Radio 4. Listeners first met three young women from the Caribbean, Hope James, Eunice Faith Isaac and Gloria de Soto, at the beginning of their lives in the UK after the Second World War. Now, two generations of these three families, bound together by the fate of one baby lost and found on Tilbury Docks in 1946, are growing up in the rapidly changing Britain of the early 1970s. Written by Carol Russell, produced by Patricia Cumper for BBC Audio Drama – London for Radio 4.
