Apple scores 17 Imagen Award nominations, as Best Comedy “Acapulco” leads all series nominations and Emmy Award-winning hit “The Morning Show” lands nod for Best Drama

July 25, 2024 – Today, Apple was recognized by the Imagen Awards with a total of 17 nominations, including honors for this year’s most-nominated series, “Acapulco.” Apple landed nominations across eight celebrated programs, and Emmy Award-winning, global hit series “The Morning Show” scored a top category nomination for Best Drama Series.
Imagen Award-winning comedy “Acapulco” led all series nominations with nine nods in total, including Best Comedy; Best Actor Enrique Arrizon; Best Supporting Actors Damián Alcázar, Carlos Corona and Eugenio Derbez; Best Supporting Actresses Vanessa Bauche, Camila Perez and Regina Reynoso; as well as Best Music Supervision for Film or Television.
Hit series “The Morning Show” landed Best Drama and Best Supporting Actor for Nestor Carbonell, while “Invasion” and “Jane” have been recognized for Best Supporting Actress Naian González and Best Young Actor Ava Louise Murchison, respectively. “Foundation” and “Sugar” score Best Director nods while “Lessons in Chemistry” earns Best Music Composition for Film or Television. Acclaimed kids and family series “CURSES!” earns a nomination for Best Youth Programming.
These nominations mark Apple’s most recent recognition from the Imagen Awards following wins in 2023 for Best Comedy and Best Actor in a Comedy for Enrique Arrizon in “Acapulco”; Best Special or Movie for “Dear… Selena Gomez”; Best Young Actor for Ava Louise Murchison in “Jane”; and Best Variety or Reality Show for “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.” These honors are the latest in a string of accolades for Apple. Apple Original films, documentaries and series have earned 499 wins and 2,285 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and historic Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA.”
The Imagen Awards recognize an array of Latino talent with groundbreaking performances, storytelling and powerful, diverse programs. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 8 at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in Los Angeles.

“Acapulco” tells the story of twentysomething Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. He soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined and in order to succeed, he must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor and a complicated home life without losing his way to shortcuts or temptations.

“The Morning Show” explores the cutthroat world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning. In season three, the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA. From Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg and David Weil, “Invasion” is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world.

Jane is a 9-year-old budding environmentalist on a quest to save endangered animals. Using her powerful imagination, Jane takes her best friends David and Greybeard the chimpanzee on epic adventures to help protect wild animals all around the world because, according to her idol Dr. Jane Goodall: “Only if we understand, will we care. “Sugar”
“Sugar” is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture, and television history: the private detective story. Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets — some very recent, others long-buried.

When a generations-long family curse turns Alex Vanderhouven to stone, it’s up to his two kids, Pandora and Russ, along with his wife, Sky, to return artifacts stolen by their ancestors to their rightful homes and finally lift the curse for good.
