Published: November 26, 2024 — The BBC has released a first look at the brand-new series of Ten Pound Poms, which follows a group of Brits escaping post-war Britain to embark on a life-changing adventure on the other side of the world. The hit series, produced by Sony Pictures Television-backed Eleven (Sex Education, upcoming BBC/Stan production Lord of the Flies) and created and written by the BAFTA award-winning Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Ordinary Lies, Brassic), will return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2025 in a co-production with Stan, which airs the series in Australia.
The newly released pictures show series leads Michelle Keegan (Fool Me Once, Brassic), Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones, Black Mirror) and Warren Brown (The Responder, Luther) reprising their roles as Kate, Annie and Terry respectively. The pictures also introduce new characters joining the series including the Skinner family, who arrive in Australia from Ireland ready to enjoy their new lives in the sunshine, plus unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates, who makes Terry an offer he can’t refuse as he attempts to put down roots for his family.
After a challenging first year in Australia, series two follows nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure down under, each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream. As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie.
Also returning for series two are Australian actors Rob Collins (Mystery Road, Firebite) as Ron, Leon Ford (Elvis, The Light Between Oceans) as Bill, Declan Coyle (Long Black, Life Of Jess) as Stevie, Stephen Curry (Hounds Of Love, The Castle) as JJ, Hattie Hook (Savage River, Of An Age) as Pattie, Finn Treacy (The Portable Door, Young Rock) as Peter, Emma Hamilton (The Tudors, Mr Selfridge) as Sheila and Cheree Cassidy (Underbelly, The Time of Our Lives) as Marlene. Series two of Ten Pound Poms (6×60’) wrapped production in Australia earlier this year.
Holmes for the BBC, Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie for Stan, plus Joel Wilson, Olivia Trench, Jamie Campbell and Sophie Williams for Eleven. The producer is Karl Zwicky. Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is distributing the series internationally and SPT-backed Curio Pictures provided production services in Australia.
