Pulsative post-punk meets trip-hop in Dissolved Girl’s 3rd spectrally filmic release, I’m a Beast

London’s pioneers of broodingly cinematic Trip Rock’ , Dissolved Girl, vindicated survivors of sociopaths with their third release, I’m a Beast. By conjuring an atmosphere as nefarious as a narcissist and juxtaposing the dissonantly pulsative rhythms with ethereally timbered vocals which bleed vulnerability into the mix, the independent four piece orchestrated an affecting anthem of reclamation.

The hooks in the synthesis of trip-hop, post-punk and indietronica ensure the monochromatic chill spills from the production, gets under the skin and allows the crescendos to caress raw nerves with cathartic consolation.

So much more than an installation of alt-90s pastiche, Dissolved Girl, with their ornately dark instrumentation, propulsive post-punk basslines and Shirley Manson-esque vocals, are the ultimate architects of refined sonic resolve.

After being mixed by Dani Castelar – who has three number 1 albums with Paulo Nutini – and mastered by Matt Colton, I’m a Beast was officially released on June 14; stream it on all major platforms now.

Dissolved Girl said:

“This song touches on a few concepts, but in its original form, it was about people with personality disorders. They wreak havoc in others’ lives and simply move on to the next victim without remorse or feeling.

There is a certain irony that the person inflicting the damage finds moving on so easy, and yet the person affected by their behaviour is left reeling, wounded, and confused about how or why this has happened. It is about feeling resilient as a victim in the face of all that and coming back stronger.”

Amelia Vandergast, Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“From their debut, we knew Dissolved Girl possessed a locked and loaded arsenal of potential; I’m a Beast is definitive proof of their ability to eclipse the airwaves with their lustrous presence which is a phenomenon in its own right.”

About

Before Dissolved Girl, Nick (guitar, songwriter) and Claire Edbrooke (vocals, songwriter, producer) were always involved in various musical projects, but the overarching ambition was always succeeding with their own original music.

In terms of musical pasts, the band members have respectively played with/for/recorded for: Sam Smith, Tracie Hunter, Joe Elliott (Def Leopard) Inner Mantra (Ace from Skunk Anansie), and shared stages or opened for Paul Dianno (Iron Maiden), Angie Bowie, Glitter Band, Feeder, Maximo Park, Professor Green, Paul Manzi (Sweet).

The germ of this band therefore began a few years ago when they stepped away from other projects and the collaborative writing process started. After extensive experimentation, Nick and Claire forged their unique fingerprint before bringing in Arthur Keys (bass) and Dom Chandler (drums), who quickly became integral members of the band which connects with and caters to seekers of real, authentic (and slightly more sophisticated) music)

Though Dissolved Girl is still fresh from inception, they’ve been spun on several radio stations, including Amazing Rock & Metal, MM Radio, Radio wigwam, WDNF-Philly, SLE Radio, Prospect Radio, Krac Radio. Their fanbase is steadily growing as they gear up o release the rest of their debut album, by the end of the year
