Apple TV+ July 2024 Schedule Announced: Fly Me to the Moon, Lady in the Lake & more

June 21, 2024 – Apple TV+ has announced the programming that will be added to the streaming service next month. The Apple TV Plus July 2024 lineup includes the thriller series Sunny, the family series Me, the limited series Lady in the Lake, the docuseries Omnivore, the comedic adventure series Time Bandits, and the crime drama Women in Blue (“Las Azules”).

Apple’s production Fly Me to the Moon, starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, will also be released in theaters in July by Sony Pictures and will later be available on Apple TV+.

Sunny (Thriller Series)
“Sunny” is a ten-episode, darkly comedic mystery series hailing from showrunner and executive producer Katie Robbins, executive producer and director Lucy Tcherniak, and executive producer Rashida Jones, who also stars alongside Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, YOU, annie the clumsy, and Jun Kunimura. “Sunny” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 10, with its first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 4.

“Sunny” stars Jones as Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is upended when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As “consolation,” she’s given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots made by her husband’s electronics company.

Though Suzie initially resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, they gradually develop an unexpected friendship. Together, they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie’s family, becoming dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed.

Produced for Apple TV+ by A24, “Sunny” is written and executive produced by Robbins through her shingle Babka Pictures. Tcherniak executive produces for Poppycock Pictures. A24 and Jones also serve as executive producers.

The series is based on the book “The Dark Manual” by award-winning Japan-based Irish writer Colin O’Sullivan.

“Sunny” marks the second collaboration for Apple, A24, and Jones following the global premiere of Sofia Coppola’s acclaimed film “On the Rocks.” Jones also recently starred in Apple’s global hit series “Silo,” based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels.

Me (Kids & Family Series)
“Me” is an elevated cinematic coming-of-age story from Barry L. Levy (“Vantage Point”), premiering globally on Friday, July 12. The live-action family series follows a 12-year-old kid named Ben in the throes of middle school (complete with bullies, crushes, and school dances!) as he adjusts to a newly blended family and the realization that he has superpowers.

Throughout the 10-episode season, Ben goes on a journey of self-discovery and learns what having superpowers truly means. He finds an ally in his stepsister, Max, who helps him harness these powers and uncover the secrets behind the mysteries and tragedies of his community … all while he tries to come to terms with what it means to be Ben.

The series stars Lucian-River Chauhan (“Encounter”) as Ben Vasani, Abigail Pniowsky (“Arrival”) as Max Davis, Dilshad Vadsaria (“Second Chance”) as Elizabeth Vasani, Amanda Reid (“Miss Juneteenth”) as Carter Kennedy and Jessy Yates (“Pulse”) as Morgan, with guest stars Kyle Howard (“Orange County”) as Phil Davis and Sharif Atkins (“NCIS: Hawai‘i”) as Darren Kennedy.

“Me” is an Apple Original created by Levy, who also serves as showrunner, executive producer, and series writer alongside Michael Dowse, Amy Welsh-Hanning, and Eben Russell. Aaron Carew is the supervising producer. Dowse also directs all 10 episodes.

Lady in the Lake (Drama/Thriller Series)
“Lady in the Lake” is a seven-part limited series starring Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Natalie Portman, who also serves as executive producer, and Emmy Award nominee Moses Ingram. The series was created and directed by Alma Har’el.

“Lady in the Lake” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, July 19, 2024, followed by new episodes every Friday through August 23, 2024.

When the disappearance of a young girl grips the city of Baltimore on Thanksgiving 1966, the lives of two women converge on a fatal collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Portman) is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Johnson (Ingram) is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family.

Their disparate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger. From visionary director Alma Har’el, “Lady in the Lake” emerges as a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale about the price women pay for their dreams.

Starring alongside Portman and Ingram in the series are Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, and Pruitt Taylor Vince.

Hailing from FIFTH SEASON, “Lady in the Lake” is produced by Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America and is created, executive produced, written, and directed by Har’el alongside producing partner Christopher Leggett. In addition to starring, Portman serves as executive producer alongside producing partner Sophie Mas.

Nathan Ross and the late Jean-Marc Vallée serve as executive producers for Crazyrose, and Julie Gardner executive produces for Bad Wolf America. Layne Eskridge, Amy Kaufman, Boaz Yakin, and author Lippman also executive produce.

The soundtrack is composed by Marcus Norris, the founder and artistic director of the South Side Symphony. The live performances are composed and produced by the critically acclaimed Bekon, a Grammy-nominated producer known for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s albums “DAMN.” and “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.”

Omnivore (Documentary Series)
Created and narrated by René Redzepi, the esteemed chef and co-owner of world-renowned restaurant Noma, “Omnivore” takes viewers on an immersive journey into the world of food. Through the lens of the key ingredients that connect us all, the series explores the profound beauty and intricate complexities of the human experience.

Each episode of “Omnivore” celebrates the cultivation, transformation, and consumption of eight of the world’s most essential ingredients, including bananas, chilies, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt, and tuna, revealing how they serve as the cornerstones of global cultural heritage. Redzepi and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Matt Goulding (“Anthony Bourdain: Explore Parts Unknown”) guide audiences on a globe-spanning odyssey, unveiling intricate stories behind the ingredients that have shaped societies, cultures, beliefs, and the course of human history.

The series takes viewers to destinations around the world, including Denmark, Serbia, Thailand, Spain, Japan, Djibouti, Peru, South Korea, France, Colombia, India, Bali, Rwanda, and Mexico, as well as locations throughout the United States. In each episode, Redzepi and various series contributors offer an intimate exploration of culinary traditions, showcasing local efforts to honor, conserve, and protect Earth’s offerings.

“Omnivore” is produced for Apple TV+ by FIFTH SEASON and FILM 45 with executive producers Redzepi, Goulding, Chris Rice, Ben Liebmann, Michael Antinoro, Max Wagner, Collin Orcutt and Mateo Willis. Cary Joji Fukunaga developed “Omnivore” for television.

Time Bandits (Kids & Family Series)
The new comedic adventure series “Time Bandits” is the first-ever television adaptation of the beloved cult classic movie. Created for television by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris, and Taika Waititi and produced for Apple TV+ by Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios, and MRC, “Time Bandits” is an unpredictable journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an 11-year-old history buff named Kevin. Together, they set out on a thrilling quest to save the boy’s parents — and the world.

Guided by Lisa Kudrow, the eccentric crew of bandits embark on epic adventures while evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it. As the group transports through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation.

The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric ages, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the ice age, ancient civilizations, the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way.

The compelling live-action series will delight viewers ages 9-99, and stars Kudrow (“The Comeback”), Kal-El Tuck (“Unseeing Evil”), Tadhg Murphy (“Conversations with Friends”), Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (“You Don’t Know Me”), Rune Temte (“Eddie the Eagle”), Charlyne Yi (“Knocked Up”), Rachel House (“Heartbreak High”), Kiera Thompson (“Martyrs Lane”), James Dryden (“Ready Player One”), Felicity Ward (“The Office Australia”), Francesca Mills (“Harlots”) and Imaan Hadchiti (“Thor: Love and Thunder”).

“Time Bandits” also features special guest appearances by Waititi and Clement. Consisting of 10 episodes, “Time Bandits” is produced for Apple TV+ by Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC.

Clement, Morris, and Waititi executive produce, write, and direct select episodes, with Clement and Morris serving as co-showrunners. Garrett Basch and Tim Coddington also executive produce along with Jane Stanton, who executive produces for Handmade Films.

Women in Blue (Las Azules) (Drama Series)
“Women in Blue” (“Las Azules”) is a 10-part Spanish-language crime drama featuring an entirely Hispanic cast and crew led by Ariel Award nominee Bárbara Mori.

Created by International Emmy Award-winning showrunner and director Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, the series will premiere globally, with the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, on Apple TV+. It will then air one episode weekly through September 25.

Set in 1971 and inspired by true events, “Women in Blue” tells the story of four women who defy the ultraconservative norms of the time and join Mexico’s first female police force, only to discover that their squad is a publicity stunt to distract the media from a brutal serial killer.

As the body count grows, María (Mori), whose determination to catch the killer becomes an obsession, Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), whose father is a renowned cop, Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana), a brilliant fingerprint analyst, and Valentina (Natalia Téllez), a young rebel, set up a secret investigation to achieve what no male officer has been able to do and bring the serial killer to justice.

The series stars Mori, Sariñana, Téllez, Rasgado, Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappán and Horacio García Rojas.

Fernando Rovzar, Emmy Award nominee Wendy Riss, Erica Sánchez Su, Sandra Solares, and International Emmy Award winner Billy Rovzar serve as executive producers. Lemon Studios produces the series for Apple TV+.
