National Storytelling Competition, ‘The Edit,’ Empowers Students To Create Original Video News With Support From NBC News and Adobe Express
April 8, 2024 — NBCUniversal News Group’s education initiative NBCU Academy and Adobe are launching The Edit, a first-of-its-kind program in the United States aimed at helping students build key digital media and literacy skills.
Beginning today, middle and high school teachers in the U.S. can sign up to receive end-to-end support for the curriculum-based storytelling competition. NBCUniversal News Group and the Adobe education team have developed thoughtfully structured, classroom-ready lessons and resources, including tutorials and guides on how to script, record, publish, and access Adobe Express, the all-in-one, AI content creation app. Teachers will then work with their students to leverage these tools to create 90-second video news reports related to wellness.

“The Edit is about empowering the next generation of storytellers and media professionals,” said Yvette Miley, EVP of diversity, equity and inclusion for NBCUniversal News Group. “We aim to inspire students to explore their creativity while learning valuable and transferable skills to build their understanding of media.”
“We’re excited to support students in learning the creative and digital skills that will empower them to become next generation creators and storytellers,” said Mala Sharma, general manager and vice president, creators and Digital Media Education, Adobe.
NBCU Academy is part of Project UP, Comcast Corporation’s $1 billion initiative to connect people to the Internet and advance digital equity and economic mobility through programs and community partnerships that open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and creators across Comcast, NBCUniversal, and Sky.
