Gannett released its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Inclusion Reports, highlighting the company’s corporate social responsibility pillars and efforts to lead in inclusion, diversity and equity.
Notable highlights from Gannett’s 2023 ESG Report:
- In February 2023, Gannett published a comprehensive Human Rights Policy
- The USA TODAY Network published an Impact Report looking back at the stories that led to change in 2022
- A comprehensive Voting Rights Guide was created ahead of midterm elections educating voters on their rights and the voting laws in their state
- Gannett included 100% of its footprint in its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reporting with a commitment to work toward reporting Scope 3 emissions in future reports
- We expanded our partnership with Support the Goals, encouraging more of our supply chain to commit to the Global Goals and work to educate others about them
Notable highlights from Gannett’s 2022 Inclusion Report:
- Steady representation growth at all levels, including people of color promoted (up 0.6%) or named director and above (up 2.3%), and women promoted (up 3.5%) or named director and above (up 3.7%)
- More than 2,500 members in our 12 Employee Resource Groups, an 11% increase from the previous year
- More inclusive demographic data through voluntary employee self-identification: 33% response rate; 9% self-identified as LGBTQ+; 8% as having a disability; 5% as active miliary or veteran; and 8% as a military spouse or family member
- Supplier Diversity Program tracked $624M in total diverse spend, up more than 35% from the previous year
- The Gannett Foundation granted $3.34 million across the United States and the UK, with a focus supporting organizations that serve historically underrepresented or marginalized groups
