USA TODAY Sports World Cup dedicated coverage allows fans to engage with World Cup content from live updates to editorial stories from USA TODAY. Fans are encouraged to follow along with updates from each team and cheer on Team USA’s rising stars, Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams. Soccer enthusiasts can also learn more about players from Team USA, Mexico and Canada by utilizing the new World Cup talent roster of interactive “playing cards” that give a glimpse into the bios of the teams and their coaching staff.
Fans can also design their own World Cup Kit to create their dream soccer player down to their jersey and their victory stance. Create your perfect kit and share it on social media!
USA TODAY Sports+ also launched a new AR experience for those who want to test their soccer skills. Fans can put on their digital gloves and play “Make the Save,” an app designed to put fans in the shoes of a World Cup goalkeeper while trying to block a soccer ball at 80 mph, the average speed of a professional penalty kick. For iOS users, the fully interactive experience can be found on the USA TODAY Sports+ app and Android users on the USA TODAY app, tap on “Make the Save” experience and start playing!
For those who can’t miss a single second of the World Cup, USA TODAY Sports+ unveiled the World Cup 2022 tracker, which includes the full 2022 schedule, latest news and an updated analysis on every match. See Lionel Messi’s last go with Argentina or experience Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Ronaldo Chop” live in action. A calendar feature has been added to sync matches with digital calendars from Google calendars to Microsoft 365. The customizable calendar allows individuals to filter by country, group, round, and more. Additionally, soccer fans can test their knowledge with the FIFA World Cup quiz, discovering some of the greatest soccer players and team’s legacies.
In collaboration with Pro Soccer Wire, USA TODAY Sports created the “It’s Called Soccer” jersey, a reminder to everyone what this sport is really called. Inspired by the Waldo, one of greatest U.S. kits of all time, this striped kit is sharp enough to make even the staunchest “football” fan convert over to the right side of the aisle. The “It’s Called Soccer” jersey can be purchased here.
Stay up to date on all the 2022 World Cup coverage with USA TODAY Sports before the final two teams compete face to face on Sunday, December 18th.
